Hurray! It’s Officially Summer!
We decided to kick off Memorial Day Weekend with a fire pit, and everyone knows that a bonfire night isn’t complete without some good old fashioned roasted marshmallows. S’mores are literally my kids’ favorite treat, and my happy kiddos made for one happy mama, too. Let me share the details with you!
I started by bringing my favorite bar cart down to the fire pit (she normally lives on our screen porch, but loves to get out every now and then, ha!). I arranged the marshmallows in a glass jar – any will do, but I’ve linked a few of my favorites here. Next, as with any display, I like to incorporate different heights, so I decided to use a cake stand to stack my chocolate and graham crackers. I threw the skewers in a vase with a couple of flags I bought to for $1.00, and was so happy with how it added to the Memorial Day vibe of the spread.
On the bottom, I used my letter board to create a themed backdrop, and arranged my favorite new glassware in the space to create some texture and dimension. A better blogger would have had a beautiful sangria to showcase, but let’s be honest, this was literally done on a whim. I think next time, I’ll try this sangria recipe by Cookies and Kate.
Whether it’s a shelf or a bar cart, I always like to add greenery to warm up a vignette, so I sprinkled in my favorite new plants, called it a day, and we had a BLAST making yummy treats to start summer.
Decorated cart or not, I hope this inspires you to get outside and enjoy summertime with your family! You won’t regret it!

PS! A few other outdoor notes:
We are loving our Thermacell mosquito repellant (below left). The range covered our entire area and I didn’t see a mosquito the entire time we were out there. For under $20 and no smelly bug spray all over me, I’d call that a total win.
This flame thrower (above right) makes starting a fire easy-peasy. Barry also loves it for the big green egg. I’m thinking it would be a great Father’s Day gift for the man in your life!
